DVD releases for October 12, 2010

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to look at this weeks DVD releases for Tuesday October 12, 2010. Actually before we get to them there are 2 off kilterness about this week which is firstly the Friday October 15, 2010 How to Train Your Dragon, one of my favourite films of the year - it's totally charming & sweet and I can't imagine anyone not liking it. We also have a non film but bit of a tie in with the release of the CD of music for the TV show The Vampire Diaries CD.

On to the films of the week and starting off with two very strong dramas that I really enjoyed, starting with The Waiting Room a very charming drama/romance starring Anne-Marie Duff (The Last Station) and Ralf Little and second is Bomber a fantastic family drama/road movie starring Shane Taylor. Turning back the time in history we have Arn: The Knight Templar, a sweeping epic of love and war. Then if we turn to the not-to-distant-future or even possibly the current state with the SciFi/horror flick on gene splicing, Splice.

Two documentaries out this week including the very inspirations The 'Socalled' Movie (US release date: Nov 23, 2010) and I Am Comic. Criterion releases The Magician this week starring Max von Sydow.

TV on DVD this week includes Being Human Season 2 (who can resist a UK series starring a vampire, werewolf & ghosts as housemates?), In Treatment Season 2, Dollhouse Season 2 and The Ghost Whisperer The Final Season.

Also up this week is the western/horror/based on a comic book Jonah Hex and Lost Boys Thirst.
