Tuesday December 14, 2010 DVD releases:
- Despicable Me: One of the big surprizes this year was how delightful and funny this film was, lots of giggles, cutness and an awesome trio of girls too.
- The A-Team: little more violent than I expected but solid action reboot
- XXY: amazing film with a fantastic peformance by Inés Efron in a film that explores gender & identity
- Gasland: highly acclaimed doc from festival circuit
- The Immaculate Conception Of Little Dizzle: I'm so surprized I didn't see this one in the theatre, looked quirky & bizarre - so much so I thought it was Canadian.
- Mesrine Part I: Killer Instinct crime biopic starring Vincent Cassell (Part II comes out Dec 28 2010)
- Quintessential Guy Maddin: 5 Films from the Heart of Winnipeg I seriously heart Guy Maddin for this exuberant and bizarre artistic vision, this complication includes Careful (1992), Twilight of the Ice Nymphs (1997), Archangel (1990), Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary (2003) and Cowards Bend the Knee.
- The Other Guys: Surprizingly funny, although I've seen all but the last 10 minutes of the film (watched in flight from San Francisco)
- Nanny McPhee Returns: Family fun goodness in urban meets rural and all hands are on deck against the crazy Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson).
- The American: George Clooney stars as a hitman in Italy doing that one, last job.
- Cyrus Going out on a limb and saying this felt like the big sleeper comedy of the year.
Friday December 17, 2010 DVD releases:
- Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole - This is the one that got away from me this year, animated and 3D and looks like quite the sweeping epic fantasy tail
- The Town Ben Affleck stars and the lead bank robber that falls for the FBI agent whose looking for him & his crew. I want to see it sheerly because Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is in it.
