Three Way Split for the Holiday Weekend Box Office: Canada, North America and UK

The bucks have been banked and it's a total split for first place over the holiday weekend takings. Here in Canada the number one film was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett where as in North America the top dog was Marley & Me and over in the UK it was The Yes Man that took number one in it's first week.

It's a 'Yes!' at the Box Office in North America, while UK enjoys the Twilight

Box Office Results for Canada, North America & UK for weekend of Dec 19/08 are in! The Canadian and North American results are pretty consistent this week with the same five films sharing the top 5 and first up is Yes Man starring Jim Carrey coming in at number one with Will Smith in Seven Pounds not far behind. Twilight has it's UK release and it is no surprize that debuts at number one.

A weekend of consensus for top spot at the box office in Canada, North America and the UK with the biggest box office going to the release of The Day the Earth Stood Still. It's interesting to not that Gran Torino starring Clint Eastwood appears to be released in the US already coming in at 20 in the North American results. It looks like books coming to life is charming some hearts as Inkheart placing in 4th in the UK over the weekend.

Twilight Tops Canadian Box Office for Third Week Running!

The numbers are in and we Canadians love our vamps. For the third week running Twilight has topped the weekend Canadian Box Office. This week second place goes to Four Christmas which has topped the North American Box Office for the past two weekends. As far as I can tell (going back to April 2008), the only other film to hold a three week No.1 spot this year is The Dark Knight.

More news in the Twilight world, the second book "New Moon" has gotten the go ahead for a film adaptation however it will not be directed by Catherine Hardwicke due to timing.
