Film Fan Fridays for Friday May 7, 2010

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday May 7, 2010!

In limited release this week we have 3 releases starting with the pitch perfect for Mother's Day pick with the documentary Babies, which follows 4 babies in different parts of the world. Get ready for cuteness because the Babies are sweet as all get out. We have another documentary out this week with Exit Through the Gift Shop, for which I'm going to quote the tagline because even after seeing the trailer I have no flipping clue what it's about, which is apparently "The incredible true story of how the world's greatest Street Art movie was never made". Looks unique to say the least. Last up for limited releases is Please Give, written & directed by Nicole Holfcener (Lovely & Amazing) and starring Catherine Keener. It's another week where I want to see everything!

In wide release this week we have only one film in release and that is Iron Man 2. I'm sure no other film wanted to take it as head on competition after the success of Iron Man which came out almost two years ago to the day and was a smashing success. I wasn't a huge fan of the first but this time round they've added Sam Rockwell (Moon) to the cast so I likely won't be able to resist it. Returning cast members include the one and only Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and new to the team are Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke and Don Cheadle.

Be sure to check out my continuing daily coverage of Hot Docs here at Movie Moxie from now until May 9, 2010 for reviews throughout the festival. It's been a great festival so far and I highly recommend checking out some films this weekend if you get a chance!

Have a great weekend!

Shannon
