Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 14, 2011!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 14, 2011! Well the releases are still pretty impressive in this second Friday of January, it will be interesting to see how the weekend does especially considering the Golden Globes are this Sunday night. Anyone running out to catch a few more nominated films before the show? If you need a reminder on the nominations I got you covered - check out the detailed nominated film list here.

In limited release this week we have a few happy surprizes hitting theatres including the stellar South Korean crime drama Breathless / Ddongpari, which closed the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival in 2009 (see selections from the very entertaining introduction and Q&A with writer/director/lead actor Yang Ik-June here) and if that isn't enough we also have the release of Mike Leigh's highly acclaimed Another Year starring Jim Broadbent. These are real treats given the time of year, that's for sure. We also have earlier releases from Thursday January 13, 2011 with Lightbox debuts of London River and documentary Nostalgia for the Light.

In wide release this week we have three releases starting with The Green Hornet, based on the 1960s TV series with this film version starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou and it's also our first 3D release of the year. We also have the comedy The Dilemma starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James and the comedies keep rolling as our last wide release is the Bollywood comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana.

I don't know too much about the Japanese animated film other than it's part 2 in a series (part 3 is slated for 2012), and looks very science fiction-y. Find out information on ticketing here. The film opens at Canada Square on January 22, 2011.
