Poster Post: Blast from the Past

Dig this psychedelic throwback design (complete with faux folds) for Ang Lee's upcoming Taking Woodstock, in theaters August 14. I'm pretty sure it glows underneath a black light.

Based on the true story of Elliot Tiber (played by Demetri Martin), Taking Woodstock takes a comedic look at how the famed counter culture rock fest came to be. The film also stars Emile Hirsch, Eugene Levy, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Liev Schreiber and Imelda Staunton.

Click here to watch the trailer.

Poster Post: Claws for Affect

Hugh Jackman may be all clean and pretty for Sunday night's Oscars, but he'll have his trademark muttonchops and adamantium claws blazing for the debut of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on May 1. Watch the trailer here.

Poster Post: Slash Art

Paul Morrison's Little Ashes, which tells the (slightly) fictionalized love story between famed artist Salvador Dalí and poet Federico García Lorca, is shaping up to be the gay art house event of 2009. Stars Robert Pattinson (hot off of Twilight) and newcomer Javier Beltran are, naturally, featured in the latest poster art, as well as a fresh new trailer.

Poster Post: Election Day Edition

It's finally time for all Americans to cast their ballot in what has seemed to be an endless election year. And what better way for we here at Movie Dearest to recognize the occasion then with a little bit of movie-related fun, inspired by the original poster for A View to a Kill.

As for who the Movie Dearest gang is voting for, it is safe to say that "that one" on the left will never appear on this blog again as long as we can help it.

Poster Post: Monsters with Babes Edition

With Halloween fast approaching, here's a collection of old school B-movie posters featuring the best of the classic "Monsters with Babes" motif. First up, you don't get any more B-grade then Ed Wood's Bride of the Monster, starring "the screen's master of the weird", the one and only Bela Lugosi.

Then there's Attack of the Crab Monsters ... damn, I hate it when that happens ...

Who could forget The Beast with 1,000,000 Eyes? And who knew it only had seven eyes?

And of course, a true icon in every sense of the word: Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, which cleverly provided eager audiences with a monster who was a babe.

For more "Monsters with Babes" posters, check out the gallery over at Retrocrush.

Poster Post: Listen to Your Heart

This graphically to the point teaser poster is for the upcoming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth (in theaters April 3). Here's the plot (via Imdb):

"A romantically challenged morning show producer (Katherine Heigl) is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Gerard Butler) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result."

Gee, I wonder what that could be ...

Poster Posts: Love and Marriage

The subject of the documentary Saving Marriage -- the hot button issue of gay marriage -- couldn't be more timely as it opens this weekend in limited release. In fact, Regent Releasing has pushed up the release date in an effort to defeat Proposition 8 in California and take advantage of the upcoming elections.

For more information on Saving Marriage and to watch the trailer, visit the film's official website.
