Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday August 21, 2009! I'm currently covering the Toronto After Dark Film Festival for 1 more day so this edition of Film Fan Fridays will be short, sweet and to the point!
In limited release this week we have two releases, first up is the political satire taking a look at UK/USA relations in In the Loop. This one has been pushed back a few tims but I'm happy to see it get a release, from the trailer it looks really funny and well worth seeing. The second limited reelase is The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story a documentary that focueses on Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman, the composers whom brought us classic songs from The Jungle Book to The Lion King. It looks really charming, I know I'll try to get out to see it.
In wide release this week we have 4 releases including Quentin Tarantino's highly anticipated Inglorious Basterds which is a 'fantasy revenge' flick set in Nazi-occupied France. If Tarantino's not your style perhaps you'd like to check out Robert Rodriguez's Shorts, about a bunch of kids that find a rock they can makes wishes with. The rock is a cute rainbow stripped rock and every time I see this preview I think they have found the Pride rock! Rounding out the new releases are Post Grad where a post college graduate ends up living back at home, plus the Bollywood release of Kaminey.
Have a great weekend!
Shannon
