Feels pretty quiet in the Twilight news world, especially considering Eclipse is currently filming. So, I've found some vamp & creature related film news for you to enjoy for this New Moon Monday.
Howl at the Moon - Making Us Wait for Wolfman
Two updates for the upcoming film The Wolfman, starring Benicio Del Toro and first up is that the trailer has been released. So far I'm not quite sold as it looks a little like Sleepy Hollow without the tongue-in-cheek aspect but I'm going to hold out hope. The second update is that the release date has been moved for November 6/09 to next year Feb 12/09. Just in time for Valentine's Day!
I Want Some More: Vampathon
The Vampathon continues with the latest reviewed being the 1987 Kathryn Bigelow vampire film Near Dark which was a first viewing for me and holy smokes it needs to be on any vampire fans required viewing list. It is rather dark but has some very unusual break for the standard cutter from vamp films and a fantastic cast including Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright and Aliens alumni Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen and Jenette Goldstein. An unexpected delight last week while covering the Toronto After Dark Film Festival was not one but two vampire films including the Japanese gorefest Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl and the brilliant UK/Romanian co-pro Strigoi. Selection for this week is David Cronenberg's Rabid, review will be up as usual this Wednesday. I've also added the original Vampathon: Vampire Film Marathon post with a list of some of the films that are upcoming to be reviewed in case you'd like to play along.
